A right \(R\)-module \(M\) is said to be (pure-)direct-injective if every (pure) submodule \(A\) of \(M\) with \(A\) isomorphic to a direct sumand of \(M\) is a direct sumand of \(M\). The main goal of this paper is to study generalizations of direct-injective modules to abelian categories (Section \(3\)) and pure-direct-injective modules to Grothendieck categories (Section \(4\)). In the last section the authors investigate classes all whose objects are pure-direct-injective and give some applications to comodule categories.
