A Noetherian criterion for sequences of modules
In this paper the authors propose a new criterion to decide when a sequence of modules, linked by transition linear maps, satisfies a Noetherian condition. Their work generalizes an earlier Noetherian criterion by \textit{W. L. Gan} and \textit{L. Li} [New York J. Math. 21, 369--382 (2015; Zbl 1327.18003)] for infinite EI categories and applies particularly to linear categories arising from diagram algebras as studied by \N\textit{P. Patzt} [J. Algebra 638, 625--669 (2024; Zbl 1527.20074)].\N\NThe main theorem gives a condition on how fast certain ``filtration dimensions of the submodules grow that ensures the sequence module is Noetherian. More concretely, they control the dimension growth in successive levels and translate an eventual stabilization criterion into Noetherianity. This abstract criterion is then shown to subsume the Gan-Li criterion as a special case, and also to be applicable in other contexts where no obvious combinatorial category exists.\N\NAs an application, this sufficient condition is applied to the linear categories associated to diagram algebras considered by Patzt, showing that finitely generated modules over these linear categories are Noetherian.
