A characterization related to a two-point boundary value problem
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: In this short note, we establish the following result: Let , be two continuous functions, with . Assume that, for some , the function is non-increasing in . Then, the following assertions are equivalent: for each , the function is not constant in ; for each , there exists an open interval such that, for every , the problem cases {-u=lambdaalpha(t)f(u) & in cr & cr u>0 & in cr & cr u(0)=u(1)=0cr} has a solution satisfying int_0^1|u'(t)|^2dt<r .
