A sharp higher order Sobolev embedding
From MaRDI portal
The authors prove a sharp embedding from the Sobolev space \(W_0^{k,2}(-1,1)\) into the Lebesgue space \(L^1(-1,1)\) for any integer \(k\ge1\). The sharp embedding constant has the form \(\left[(2k-1)!!\sqrt{(k+\frac12)}\right]^{-1}\) and the extremal functions are given by the Landau kernels \(L_k(x)=(1-x^2)^k\). The result improves an estimate obtainded by [\textit{G.~A. Kalyabin}, Proc. Steklov Inst. Math. 284, 161--167 (2004; Zbl 1303.46024)].
