A short note on number fields defined by exponential Taylor polynomials

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: Let n be a positive integer and fn(x)=1+x+fracx22!+cdots+fracxnn! denote the n-th Taylor polynomial of the exponential function. Let K=mathbfQ(heta) be an algebraic number field where heta is a root of fn(x) and mathbfZK denote the ring of algebraic integers of K. In this paper, we prove that for any prime p, p does not divide the index of the subgroup mathbfZ[heta] in mathbfZK if and only if p2midn!.
