A smooth complex generalization of the Hobby-Rice theorem
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: The Hobby-Rice Theorem states that, given functions on , there exists a multiplier such that the integrals of are all simultaneously zero. This multiplier takes values~ and is discontinuous. We show how to find a multiplier that is infinitely differentiable, takes values on the unit circle, and is such that the integrals of are all zero. We also show the existence of infinitely differentiable, real functions such that the functions are pairwise orthogonal.
