Algebraic structures of Euler numbers
Considérons le produit formel \(\left (\sum_{k}^{}a_{k}\dfrac{t^{k}}{k!}\right )\left (\sum_{i}^{}b_{k}\dfrac{t^{k}}{k!}\right )...=\left (\sum_{i}^{}c_{k}\dfrac{t^{k}}{k!}\right )\), on a la formule multinomiale~: NEWLINE\[NEWLINEc_{k}=\sum_{k_{1}+k_{2}+\dots =k}^{}{{k}\choose{k_{1},k_{2}, \dots }}a_{k_{1}}b_{k_{2}} \dots NEWLINE\]NEWLINE Posons \(x=e^{t}=\sum_{k}^{}\dfrac{t^{k}}{k!}\) la série exponentielle, \(y=2x/(x^{2}+1)\), il est connu que \(y=\sum_{k}^{}E_{k}\dfrac{t^{k}}{k!}\) est la série génératrice des nombres d'Euler. Eliminons \(x\) entre \(y,y^{2},y^{3},y',y\) on obtient \(y^{3}=\dfrac{y}{2}-\dfrac{y}{2}\) qui donne la formule NEWLINE\[NEWLINE(\ast)\qquad \sum_{k_{1}+k_{2}+k_{3}=k}^{}{{k}\choose{k_{1},k_{2},k_{3}}}E_{k_{1}}E_{k_{2}}E_{k_{3}} =(1/2)E_{k}-(1/2)E_{k+2}NEWLINE\]NEWLINE L'auteur développe systématiquement une structure algébrique à partir de laquelle les formules de type \((\ast)\) apparaissent comme des relations algébriques entre éléments de cette structure~: d'abord en utilisant la transcendance de \(x\) sur \(\mathbb{Q}[t]\) il en déduit que \(y=2x/(x^{2}+1)\) soit \(x^{2}y=2x-y\) est la seule relation liant \(y\) et \(x\), ce qui laisse suggérer que NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\sum_{k_{1}+k_{2}=k}^{}{{k}\choose{k_{1}}}2^{k_{1}}E_{k_{2}}=2-E_{k}NEWLINE\]NEWLINE est essentiellement la seule relation liant les nombres d'Euler. Ensuite posons \(\delta =\dfrac{d}{dt}\), il montre que la seule relation \(P(x,\delta ).y=0\;(P \in \mathbb{Q}[X,Y])\) est \((\delta -1).(x^{2}+1).y=0\). Au sein de cette structure l'auteur retrouve en particulier les formules de type \((\ast)\) avec un nombre \(=\;3,5,7,9, \dots 2m+1\) impair de facteurs \(E_{k} \), avec aussi possibilité de décalage des indices \(k_{1},k_{2},k_{3}\) comme par exemple : NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\sum_{k_{1}+k_{2}+k_{3}=k}^{}{{k}\choose{k_{1},k_{2},k_{3}}}E_{k_{1}+1}E_{k_{2}+1}E_{k_{3}} =(1/8)E_{k}-(1/12)E_{k+2}-(1/24)E_{k+4}NEWLINE\]NEWLINE il montre aussi que les formules de type \((\ast)\), sont impossibles avec un nombre pair de facteurs \(E_{k}\), ce qui équivaut à \(y^{2n}\notin \mathbb{Q}[\delta ].y\) pour \(n\geq 1\) (en est t'il de même des formules de type ci-dessus~?).
