Ammann bars for octagonal tilings
From MaRDI portal
A tiling is a covering of a given region on the plane using some tiles without gaps or overlaps. Ammann bars are formed by segments (decorations) on the tiles of a tiling such that forming straight lines with them while tiling forces non-periodicity. Only a few cases of such Ammann bars are known; the famous one is the so-called Penrose tilings. The authors propose a general method (called the FP-method) to construct Ammann bars for some tilings called Cyrenaic tilings.
