An Equational Characterization of Quasi-injective Modules

From MaRDI portal

This short note gives a characterization of quasi-injective modules analogous to the well-known characterization of injective modules in terms of solvability of compatible systems of equations. The concept of strong compatibility (which implies compatibility) for a system of linear equations over an \(R\)-module \(M\) is defined and the main result shows that \(M\) is quasi-injective if and only if every strongly compatible system of equations (or every strongly compatible system of equations in one unknown) over \(M\) is solvable.
