An asymptotic invariant of surface groups
From MaRDI portal
Let \(G\) be the fundamental group of a closed orientable surface of genus \(n\geq 2\). In this paper in the spirit of Gromov, an asymptotic invariant of G is computed. The author looks at an increasing chain of balls in the Cayley graph of \(G\) with respect to the standard presentation and computes the average rank defined by the quotient of the number of vertices in each ball.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0940.00028].
