Analysis of multiindices and multivariable Voigt function via polynomials and numbers

From MaRDI portal

The purpose of this article is introduce a multi-index and multi-variable generalization of the famous Voigt functions. The heat equation on page 4 will read \N\[ \frac{\partial \mathscr{H}_n(\rho,\tau)}{\partial \tau}= \frac{\partial ^2\mathscr{H}_n(\rho,\tau)}{\partial \rho^2},\quad \mathscr{H}_n(\rho,0)=\rho^n. \]\NVarious connections between Hermite numbers and multi-index and multi-variable Voigt functions are then quoted and Laplace transforms are used in between. These new multiple functions can be expressed in terms of Kampé de Feriét functions, which is not very surprising. Finally, connections with generalized multivariable Hermite polynomials are indicated. The complicated multivariable Hermite polynomial generating function formula (5.1) cannot be found in [13], by the way. Special cases of this formula have, however occurred in the literature by several Indian authors, like e.g. Chatterjea.\N\NIt would have been better to stop and try to give some physics applications of these new, very complicated functions.
