After the substantial revision for the 7th edition of this German classic of applied statistics (see the review Zbl 0755.62002), the author has made smaller changes for the 8th edition. For example, Goodman's \(G\)-test has been dropped, a small appendix with selected results is included. The total number of pages has increased by about 30 pages. Altogether, the author made an attempt to make the text even more user friendly than it already was. For example, the index and the references are enlarged, and new cross references are included.
