Around automorphisms of relatively free groups
This is a survey article on recent, and not only, results on automorphisms of relatively free groups. This is focused, in particular, on the tame automorphisms, i.e., automorphisms which are induced by automorphisms of free groups, of certain soluble varieties. These varieties are the varieties of nilpotent groups, metabelian groups, nilpotent metabelian groups, centre-by-metabelian groups. A system of elements of a relatively free group is called primitive if it can be included in a basis. This paper contains also a survey of results about lifting primitivity to free groups, i.e., whether there is a primitive system of the free group which is mapped by the natural homomorphism on the given primitive system of the relatively free group. There is an extensive bibliography of 72 articles, useful to the young researchers. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0911.00010].
