Asymptotic analysis for linear difference equations

From MaRDI portal

For linear operators \(P_n\) over a locally convex linear space \(U\) and \(v_n\in U\), the difference equation \(\varphi_n= P_n\varphi_{n-1}+ v_n\) with \(n\in \mathbb{N}_0\) and \(\varphi_{-1}=0\) is considered. Under special asymptotic assumptions concerning \(P_n\), in particular \[ P_n= \sum_{i=0}^{N+1} P^{(i)}(n)_i+ O(n^{-N-2}) \qquad\text{for}\quad n\geq N+1, \] where \(P^{(i)}\) are strongly bounded operators, \((n)_0=1\) and \((n)_i= (-1)^i (i-1)! (n-1)!/ (n+i-1)!\) for \(i\geq 1\), explicit factorial asymptotic expansions are given for the solutions \(\varphi_n\) as well as Gevrey estimates for them. Here, the Landau symbol \(O\) is defined by means of seminorms.
