Asymptotic eigenvalue distribution of block-Toeplitz matrices

From MaRDI portal

The main result of this correspondence is: Theorem III. 1: For any positive integers \(s\), the eigenvalues \(\lambda^{(m_1, m_2)}_{k_1, k_2}\) of the block-Toeplitz with Toeplitz block matrix \(T(m_1,m_2)\) associated with the \(2\)-\(D\) Fourier transform \(F(f_1,f_2)\) of the finite truncated bisequence \(\{f[k_1, k_2]\}\) satisfy \[ \lim_{m_1\to \infty\atop m_2\to \infty} {1\over m_1m_2} \sum^{m_1}_{l_1=1} \sum^{m_2}_{l_2=1} \Bigl(\lambda_{l_1, l_2}^{(m_1, m_2)} \Bigr)^s= \int^1_0 \int^1_0F^s(f_1, f_1)df_1 df_2. \]
