Bent functions and permutation methods. Binary and multiple-valued bent functions

From MaRDI portal

This book, which is based on articles the authors presented at workshops between 2015 and 2023, deals with bent functions from \(\mathbb{Z}_p^n\) to \(\mathbb{Z}_p\) for \(p=2,3,4\) from an engineering point of view. The central idea of investigation is how to produce from a bent function (which the authors mostly represent by their value set) new bent functions by permuting the input values. Many examples in small number of variables are given. \N\NRemark: For \(p=4\), with the definition of bent functions via the Vilenkin-Chrestenson spectrum used in this book, differently to some other literature, the set of bent functions does not correspond to the set of functions from \(\mathbb{Z}_4^n\) to \(\mathbb{Z}_4\) for which the derivatives are balanced.
