Boundary value problem for weakly nonlinear hyperbolic equations with varying coefficients

From MaRDI portal

The authors consider weakly nonlinear hyperbolic equations of order \( 2n \) with varying coefficients on the cylinder domain from \({\mathbb R}^{p+1},\) where \(n>(3p+1)/2.\) The disturbed equation is investigated. Studying the existence of solutions for the disturbed equation is connected with the problem of small denominators. The formal expansion for the solution \(u_0(t,x)\) of the disturbed equation is found. Then the authors consider the original problem and investigate conditions for the existence of solutions. The perturbed problem is reduced to an integral equation with Green's function. Existence and uniqueness of solutions to the integral equation is proved by the principle of contracting mappings.
