Calculating connection coefficients for Meromorphic differential equations

From MaRDI portal

Consider systems of linear differential equations of the form \[ x'=A(z)x, \qquad A(z)=\sum_{m=0}^{\infty}A_mz^{-m}\quad | z| >a \tag{1} \] with an irregular singularity of rank one at \(z=\infty.\) Here \(x\) is an \(n\)-dimensional unknown vector, and \(A_0\) has all distinct eigenvalues. It is known that the calculation of Stokes multipliers for (1) is replaced by that of connection constants for so-called associated functions [\textit{R. Schäfke}, Über das globale analytische Verhalten der Lösungen der über die Laplacetransformation zusammenhängenden Differentialgleichungen \(tx'=(A+tB)x\) und \((s-B)v'=(\rho-A)v\), Dissertation, Essen, (1979)]; \textit{W. Balser, W. B. Jurkat} and \textit{D. A. Lutz} [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 12, 691-721 (1981; Zbl 0468.34024); ibid. 19, 398-443 (1988; Zbl 0639.34034)]. In this paper, by calculating connection constants for conformal modifications of the associated functions, the authors obtain the Stokes multipliers for (1), which are expressed as sums of certain convergent series or as limits of certain sequences. The terms of the series (or of the sequences) are given by explicit weighted sums of the coefficients of the formal solution to (1), and are obtained by a recursive process from an integral equation which each modified associated function satisfies. Furthermore, for a special equation of the form \[ x'=(A_0+A_1z^{-1})x, \tag{2} \] a central connection problem is treated by analogous arguments.
