Certain homological properties of triangular matrix rings

From MaRDI portal

The paper studies flat and Gorenstein flat dimensions over triangular matrix rings\N\[\NT=\begin{pmatrix}A & 0 \\\NU & B\end{pmatrix},\N\]\Nderiving two-sided inequalities for the flat dimension of a \(T\)-module, and corresponding bounds for \(\mathrm{wgldim}(T)\), \(\mathrm{sfli}(T)\), and the Gorenstein weak global dimension \(\mathrm{Gwgldim}(T)\). Applications are given to Ding--Chen rings and to the lower triangular matrix ring \(T_n(R)\), including an inductive description of Gorenstein flat \(T_n(R)\)-modules.\N\NThe central results are inequalities of the form\N\[\N\max\{\mathrm{fd}_A(X_1),\mathrm{fd}_B(X_2)\} \le \mathrm{fd}_T(X) \le \max\{\mathrm{fd}_A(X_1)+1,\mathrm{fd}_B(X_2)\},\N\]\Ntogether with their Gorenstein analogues under suitable finiteness assumptions on \(U\) and on \(\mathrm{sfli}(B^{o})\). The proofs proceed by the standard description of \(T\)-modules as triples, known characterizations of flat and injective modules over triangular matrix rings, iterative diagram arguments, and the use of extension-closure properties of Gorenstein flat modules over arbitrary rings.\N\NThe technical execution is careful and the arguments appear correct. The contribution is incremental: the manuscript refines earlier estimates by weakening hypotheses (notably, removing a coherence requirement in the Gorenstein setting) and then propagates the resulting bounds to \(T_n(R)\) and to Ding-Chen consequences. The phenomenon captured by the bounds is the expected ``\(+1\) shift inherent in triangular extensions; the work does not introduce new mechanisms beyond established homological tools. Within that scope, the presentation is clear and the references are appropriate.
