The main purpose of this work is to formulate the solutions to certain problems arising from the afore-mentioned L. A. Rubel's problem (London Math. Soc. Lect. Note Ser., 1974, Vol. 12, pp. 115-118) on simultaneous approximation by polynomials on general sets of the complex plane.
