Character estimates of adjoint simple Lie groups
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: Call a compact, connected, simple Lie group {emph{adjoint simple}} if it has trivial center. Let be a nontrivial conjugacy class, the identity element of . We prove the existence of an , depending on but not , such that lies in the interior of for all . We then prove that a disk of radius less than 1, contained in the unit disk and tangent to at , contains the image of every normalized character of .
