Classification of homogeneous local representations of the singular braid monoid

From MaRDI portal

The paper studies homogeneous local representations of the braid group \(B_n\) and of the singular braid monoid \(SM_n\). It extends the classification obtained by \textit{Y.~Mikhalchishina} in [Sib. Math. J. 54, No. 4, 666--678 (2013; Zbl 1279.20048)] for homogeneous \(2\)-local representations of \(B_n\) in two directions. First, it classifies all non-trivial homogeneous \(3\)-local representations of \(B_n\) for \(n \ge 4\). Second, it classifies all non-trivial homogeneous \(2\)-local representations of \(SM_n\) for \(n \ge 2\) and all non-trivial homogeneous \(3\)-local representations of \(SM_n\) for \(n \ge 4\).\N\NThe paper also considers extensions from \(B_n\) to \(SM_n\). In the \(2\)-local case, it gives a complete description of homogeneous \(2\)-local extensions of non-trivial homogeneous \(2\)-local representations of \(B_n\) to \(SM_n\) and it classifies all \(\Phi\)-type extensions of such representations for \(n \ge 3\). The classifications are explicit: for \(SM_2\) seven families are obtained, for homogeneous \(2\)-local representations with \(n \ge 3\) three families are obtained and for homogeneous \(3\)-local representations with \(n \ge 4\) eight families are obtained. The Burau representation and the \(F\)-representation are discussed as distinguished examples within the classified families.\N\NThe final part formulates several open questions concerning the remaining low-rank case for homogeneous \(3\)-local representations and the reducibility of homogeneous local extensions to \(SM_n\). The paper provides explicit matrix forms for the families under consideration.
