The notion of cleft extension was introduced by \textit{A. Beligiannis} [Commun. Algebra 28, No. 10, 4503--4546 (2000; Zbl 0964.18005)], and it is a common framework for the study of triangular matrix rings, Morita rings, trivial extension rings and tensor rings. Recently, this framework was used to reduce some homological properties of rings, such as the finitistic dimension, cotorsion pairs and the property of injective generation.\N\NIn the paper under review, the authors study the Goresnteinness, Gorenstein projective modules and singularity categories in the context of cleft extensions of rings. More precisely, they investigate when the functors in the cleft extension can be restricted to the stable categories of Gorenstein projective modules, singularity categories and the big singularity categories in the sense of Krause. Moreover, they prove that the Goresnteinness and the singularity categories are invariant under certain cleft extension. These results unify an abundance of known results on Gorenstein homological aspects of triangular matrix rings, arrow removal operation, tensor rings and Morita rings.
