Abstract: We propose a supersymmetric generalization of Cardy's equation for consistent N=1 superconformal boundary states. We solve this equation for the superconformal minimal models SM(p/p+2) with p odd, and thereby provide a classification of the possible superconformal boundary conditions. In addition to the Neveu-Schwarz (NS) and Ramond (R) boundary states, there are NS~ states. The NS and NS~ boundary states are related by a Z_2 "spin-reversal" transformation. We treat the tricritical Ising model as an example, and in an appendix we discuss the (non-superconformal) case of the Ising model.

The paper proposes and solves a generalization of Cardy's equation for consistent boundary states to the case of \(N=1\) superconformal field theory (see for example \textit{D. Friedan, Z. Qiu}, and \textit{S. Shenker} [Phys. Lett. B 151, 37-43 (1985)]). Unlike the standard Virasoro algebra case, in the super Virasoro algebra, the consistent boundary states are no longer in one-to-one correspondence with irreducible representations, there being R (Ramond), NS (Neveu-Schwarz) and \(\widetilde{NS}\) consistent boundary states. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINE\textit{S. A. Apikyan} and \textit{D. A. Sahakyan} [Mod. Phys. Lett. A 14, 211-221 (1999)] proposed a different generalisation of Cardy's equations; however it does not provide the R and \(\widetilde{NS}\) boundary states. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe case of the superconformal minimal model \(SM(3/5)\) (tricritical Ising model) is worked out in detail, its identification with the conformal minimal model \(M(4/5)\) for which the Cardy states are already known [see \textit{J. L. Cardy}, Nucl. Phys. B 324, 581-596 (1989) and \textit{L. Chim}, Int. J. Mod. Phys. A 11, 4491-4512 (1996)] providing a useful check.
