Continuous inverse ambiguous functions on Lie groups
In [Aequationes Math. 91, No. 2, 373--389 (2017; Zbl 1372.39027)] the first author introduced the concept of an inverse ambiguous function on a group \(G\) as a bijective mapping \(\displaystyle{f:G\rightarrow G}\) that satisfies the functional equation \(f^{-1}(x) = f\left(x^{-1}\right)\) for all \(x \in G\). In that work, he analyzed the existence of such functions on the additive and multiplicative groups associated with fields, incorporating the additional requirement of continuity in the context of topological fields.\NIn a subsequent study, [the first author and \textit{K. Gallagher}, Aequationes Math. 92, No. 5, 963--973 (2018; Zbl 1400.39024)], the investigation was extended to finite non-abelian groups.\NThe present paper continues this line of inquiry by examining the existence of continuous inverse ambiguous functions on various classes of Lie groups, including tori, elliptic curves over different fields, vector spaces, and both additive and multiplicative matrix groups.
