Control system on an infinite temporal tree

From MaRDI portal

This paper develops a framework for controlling systems whose dynamics evolve along an infinite temporal tree, where time branches at discrete points due to random changes in system parameters. Specifically, the control system is governed by a first-order linear differential equation with a stochastic coefficient \(b(t)\), which can take values in a countable set at each integer time step. The system is modeled as a tree, with each branch representing a possible realization of the stochastic process. The goal is to find a control input that drives the system from an initial to a terminal state while minimizing the control effort across all possible scenarios.\N\NThe author formulates and solves a variational problem on this tree, establishing the existence and uniqueness of the optimal control and showing that the optimal trajectory satisfies a boundary value problem with Kirchhoff-type conditions.\N\NThis model generalizes classical delay control problems and applies to systems in which uncertainty evolves over time, offering a new perspective on stochastic control over networked structures.
