Data management and Internet computing for image/ pattern analysis

From MaRDI portal

The book focuses on the data management and Internet computing aspects of Pattern Recognition and Image Processing (PRIP). These concern the distribution and exchange of Image And Pattern (IAP) data on sequential and parallel machines, storage access and distribution of images on different types of machines connected to the Internet, and a discussion of how Internet resource sharing and data transmission change traditional IAP computing.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book is divided into three parts. The first part describes central algorithms for IAP computing. After an introduction to basic issues of data management in connection with IAP computing, common data communication patterns in typical PRIP algorithms are analyzed. Chapters on grey level image restoration, a partial fractal model for hybrid image coding, best neighborhood matching for image coding and impulse noise removal are dealing with some important issues in Internet IAP data formatting and data communication and recovery.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEPart II is devoted to architecture and implementation: Internet resource sharing, parallel processing for image restoration, image storage management on parallel computers, data management for sequential computer systems, and routing algorithms on data permutations.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINESome applications of PRIP computing are given in Part III: low bit range image compression, currupted image restoration, partial image encryption, and progressive color image transmission.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe authors have done a good job in limiting the prerequisites for a successful study of the interesting and well presented material. The book is this not only useful for researchers, but also for use in advanced courses on pattern recognition and image processing.
