Duals and pullbacks of normed modules

From MaRDI portal

This long and technical article continues the earlier work of the authors and their collaborators. Familiarity with the monograph [\textit{N. Gigli}, Nonsmooth differential geometry -- an approach tailored for spaces with Ricci curvature bounded from below. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2018; Zbl 1404.53056)] helps the reader in navigating the details. In this review we avoid reproducing the long terminological and notational detail. \N\NLet \(B\) be a Banach space. The motivation for the study of pullbacks of normed modules comes from the interpretation of the classical Lebesgue-Bochner spaces as normed modules. An enhanced measurable space is a triplet \((X, \Sigma, {\mathcal N})\), where \({\mathcal N}\) is a \(\sigma\)-ideal of the \(\sigma\)-algebra, \(\Sigma\). Given a collection of Banach spaces, \(V_{\ast}=\{V_x\}_{x \in X}\), Section~2 deals with the space of sections of \(V_{\ast}\), \({\mathcal S}(V_{\ast})\). Example~2.2 illustrates how several naturally studied objects in Analysis fall under thus umbrella.\N\NSection 3 develops the theory of `separable measure spaces'. The dual of the pullback gets studied in 3.2.4 and is identified as a space of sections of a suitable weak Banach bundle.
