Effective weak universality in short intervals

From MaRDI portal

In the paper the following results are proved. \par Theorem 1. Let \(N \in \mathbb{N}\) and let \(\boldsymbol{a} = (a_0,\cdots,a_{N-1})\in \mathbb{C}^N \) be any given sequence with norm \(\vert \boldsymbol{a}\vert =\sum_{k=0}^{N-1}\vert a_k\vert \). Let \(\sigma_0 \in \left(\frac{1}{2},1\right)\). Then, for every \(\varepsilon \in (0,1) \), the system of inequalities \[\left\vert a_k- \frac{\mathrm{d}^k}{\mathrm{d}s^k}\log\zeta(s)\Big\vert _{s=\sigma_0+i\tau} \right\vert <\varepsilon, \quad 1\le k\le N\] has a solution \(\tau\in [T,T+H]\), where \(H\in [T^{\frac{27}{82}},T]\) and \(T\) is so large that \[ T\ge \exp\exp\left(C_1(\vert \boldsymbol{a}\vert +\varepsilon^{-1})^{\delta(\sigma_0)} \right),\] where \(c_1=c_1(N,\varepsilon)>0\) is a constant and \(\delta(\sigma_0)=8\left(\frac{1}{1-\sigma_0}+\frac{1}{\sigma_0-\frac{1}{2}} \right)\).\par Theorem 1 with \(\zeta\) in place of \(\log \zeta\) is stated as Theorem 5, which then is used to deduce Theorem 2. Theorem 2 is in the form of Voronine's original spirit and gives a weak universality theorem on an analytic function whose Taylor coefficients are viewed as \(\{a_k\}\) in Theorem 1. In treating the short-interval version, an appeal to the best estimate for the density function of zeros.
