Equivariant characteristic classes of singular hypersurfaces

From MaRDI portal

The authors introduce the notions of integrated equivariant Milnor number, denoted by \(\mu_I^G\), and the equivariant Milnor class \(\mathcal M_G(Z)\), where \(Z\) denotes a hypersurface and \(G\) is a complex reductive algebraic group. One of the results of the paper is the proof of the constancy of \(\mu_I^G\) on the strata of a Whitney stratification of \(Z\) and the following relation \N\[ \mathcal M_G(Z)=\mathcal M_{G,0}(Z)=\frac{1}{\vert G\vert}\sum_{i=1}^k\mu_I^G(x_i) \] \Nfor hypersurfaces with isolated singularities \(x_1,\dots, x_k\), where \(\mathcal M_{G,0}(Z)\) denotes the \(0\)-th equivariant Milnor class of \(Z\). The authors also introduce the notion of equivariant Fulton-Johnson class of singular hypersurfaces, as well as equivariant versions of the specialization homomorphisms for constructible functions and homology. An equivariant version of the Verdier specialization property is also presented. As an application, the authors derive a relationship between the equivariant Fulton-Johnson and Schwartz-MacPherson classes.
