Evolutionary algorithms in engineering applications

From MaRDI portal

The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually. This book, entitled Evolutionary Algorithms in Engineering Applications is concerned with applications of evolutionary algorithms and associated strategies in the domain of engineering. Evolutionary algorithms are general-purpose search procedures based on the mechanisms of natural selection and population genetics. Different variants of Evolutionary algorithms are genetic algorithms (GA), evolutionary strategies (ES), evolutionary programming (EP) and genetic programming (GP) -- are used to great advantage in applications as diverse as architectural design, engineering optimization, factory job scheduling, electronic circuits design, signal processing, network configurations, robotic control, etc. This book consist of five parts: Introduction, Architecture and Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical, Control and Signal Processing, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, each with four or five chapters. The topics are chosen to emphasize applications areas of engineering. The book includes descriptions of many real-world problems together with their evolutionary solutions. The book will be useful for developers, designers, engineers and researchers in any scientific discipline interested in the applications of evolutionary algorithms.
