Exchange rings satisfying unit 1-stable range
Simple and semisimple modules, primitive rings and ideals in associative algebras (16D60) Structure and classification for modules, bimodules and ideals (except as in 16Gxx), direct sum decomposition and cancellation in associative algebras) (16D70) von Neumann regular rings and generalizations (associative algebraic aspects) (16E50) Units, groups of units (associative rings and algebras) (16U60) Stable range conditions (19B10)
Let \(R\) have all primitive factors Artinian, i.e., \(R/P\) is Artinian for every primitive ideal \(P\) of \(R\). The author gives a necessary and sufficient condition under which every exchange ring with primitive factors Artinian satisfies unit 1-stable range. In addition, a new elementwise characterization of strongly \(\pi\)-regular rings is obtained.
