Finite group whose maximal subgroups have small codegree sums
From MaRDI portal
For a finite group \(K\), let \[T^c(K)=\sum_{\chi\in\mathrm{Irr}(K)}|K:\ker\chi|/\chi(1)\] be the sum of its irreducible character codegrees. The paper classifies the finite groups \(G\) such that \(T^c(M)<24\) for every maximal subgroup \(M\) of \(G\). The non-solvable groups satisfying this condition are precisely \(\mathrm{PSL}_2(5)\) and \(\mathrm{PSL}_2(7)\); the solvable cases are also determined explicitly.
