Finite group with given Hall normally embedded subgroups

From MaRDI portal

The paper under review investigates the structure of finite groups when certain subgroups are Hall normally embedded. Indeed, a subgroup \(H\) of a finite group \(G\) is called Hall normally embedded if \(H\) is a Hall subgroup of its normal closure \(H^G\). This notion, introduced by \textit{S. Li} et al. [Commun. Algebra 37, No. 9, 3360--3367 (2009; Zbl 1187.20011)] has been used to generalize classical embedding conditions and detect solvability properties via subgroup embedding patterns.\N\NFix a proper non-trivial subgroup \(D\) of a Sylow \(p\)-subgroup \(P\) of \(G\). The authors study groups \(G\) such that every subgroup \(H \leq P\) of order \(|D|\) that lacks a supersolvable or \(p\)-nilpotent supplement is Hall normally embedded in \(G\). Under these conditions, several structural consequences are derived, including \(p\)-nilpotency and the existence of Sylow towers of supersolvable type. In particular, Theorem 3.1 shows that \(G\) is \(p\)-nilpotent if \(G\) has odd order and all such subgroups \(H\) of order \(|D|\) satisfy the embedding condition.\N\NThe authors also provide formation-theoretic generalizations: if \(\mathfrak{F}\) is a saturated formation containing all supersolvable groups and the same Hall embedding condition holds for each \(\pi\)-subgroup of a normal subgroup \(E\) of \(G\), then \(G \in \mathfrak{F}\).
