Fixed rings of coherent regular rings

From MaRDI portal

In the first part the author considers a commutative coherent ring \(R\) and a group \(G\) of automorphisms of \(R\). It is proved that under certain homological conditions, one can conclude that \(R^ G\) is coherent as well. Next the author studies the question when a ring \(R\) is projective (flat, faithfully flat) over the fixed point ring \(R^ G\), where \(G\) is a group of automorphisms of \(R\). It is shown among other results that \(R\) is \(R^ G\)-projective in case \(R\) is reduced and a finitely presented \(R^ G\)-module and \(R^ G\) is semihereditary. Theorem 8 (1) should be stated: Let \(G\) be a locally finite group of automorphisms of a reduced ring \(R\). If \(R^ G\) is a p.p. ring, then cyclic \(R^ G\)-submodules of \(R\) are \(R^ G\)-projective (reviewer's remark). In the final section it is shown that under certain extra conditions \[ \text{wgl} \dim R^ G \leq \text{wgl} \dim R+ \text{hd}_{R^ G}(R). \]
