The theory of framelets has emerged as one of the key research areas in applied and computational harmonic analysis. Although most of the existing works are focused on framelet systems that use only one dilation matrix as the sampling factor, some notable works also discuss the applications of one-dimensional tight framelets with mixed dilation factors. The one-dimensional tight framelet with mixed dilation factors is less redundant compared to the framelet with a single dilation matrix, and has proved to offer good performance in practice. However, a rigorous theoretical analysis of such framelet systems is yet in its infancy. This paper seems to bridge this gap by systematically investigating framelets with mixed dilation factors, with arbitrary multiplicity in arbitrary dimensions. More precisely, the authors first study the discrete framelet transform employing a filter bank with mixed dilation factors and discuss its various properties. Subsequently, the notion of a discrete affine system in \(\ell^2(\mathbb Z^d)\) is introduced, and the discrete framelet transforms with mixed dilation factors are studied in detail. Towards the end, authors discuss framelets and wavelets with mixed dilation factors in the space of square-integrable functions on \(\mathbb R^d\).
