General relativity

From MaRDI portal

This article gives a comprehensive review of current mathematical problems in general relativity. The pecularities of Lorentzian geometry with respect to Riemannian are pointed out. A brief discussion with a collection of the relevant literature of the conformal structure of the spacetimes, positive mass theorems and singularity theorems is presented. In addition topological issues and Lorentzian splitting theorems are discussed. An important question are the existence and the uniqueness of solutions to the Einstein equations, black-hole uniqueness theorems, the cosmic censorship hypothesis and the Penrose inequality for black-holes.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0961.00021].
