Generalized Vandermonde determinants.
Verf. beschäftigt sich mit Determinanten der Form \[ \left| \begin{matrix} a_1^{t_1} & a_2^{t_1} & \ldots & a_n^{t_1}\\ a_1^{t_2} & a_2^{t_2} & \ldots & a_n^{t_2}\\ \hdotsfor4\\ a_1^{t_n} & a_2^{t_n} & \ldots & a_n^{t_n} \end{matrix} \right| \qquad (t_1<t_2<\cdots<t_n). \] Diese Determinanten lassen sich als ganze rationale Funktionen gewisser spezieller Determinanten derselben Art darstellen. Diese Untersuchungen finden Anwendung bei der Herstellung einer Darstellung einer ganzen rationalen symmetrischen Funktion durch elementarsymmetrische Funktionen.
