Generalized rectangular functional equations
The author obtains the solution of \[ {1\over 2^n}\sum^1_{s_1,\dots,s_n=0}f\bigl(x_1\sigma_1^{s_1}(y_1),\dots,x_n \sigma_n^{s_n}(y_n)\bigr)=f(x)h_1(y)+h_2(y),\quad x,y\in G, \] where \(f,h_1,h_2:G_1\times G_2\times\cdots\times G_n\to\mathbb{C}\) \((G_i\)'s are groups), \(\sigma_i:G_i\to G_i\) is an automorphism or anti-automorphism such that \(\sigma_i\circ\sigma_i=I\), which is a generalization of the rectangular functional equation \[ \begin{aligned} f(x_1+y_1,x_2+y_2) & +f(x_1+y_1,x_2-y_2)+f(x_1-y_1,x_2+y_2)\\ & +f(x_1-y_1,x_2-y_2)=4f(x_1,x_2)\end{aligned} \] studied by \textit{J.
