HFD spaces in two problems of countably compact like properties

From MaRDI portal

In this paper, the authors construct a consistent space \(X\) such that every power smaller than \(2^{\mathfrak c}\) of its hyperspace \({\mathcal C}{\mathcal L} (X)\) is countably compact, but its \(2^{\mathfrak c}\)-power is not countably compact. This provides a consistent negative answer to a question studied by \textit{I. Juhász} and \textit{J. E. Vaughan} [Topology Appl. 154, No. 12, 2434--2448 (2007; Zbl 1128.54008)], where only some partial results on the question were given. In addition, they also give a consistent negative answer to Question 3.6 of \textit{M. Sanchis} and \textit{A. Tamariz-Mascarúa} [Topology Appl. 98, No. 1--3, 323--343 (1999; Zbl 0970.54008)]. The paper concludes with several interesting questions.
