Higher dimensional Hardy inequality

From MaRDI portal

Let \((Hf)(x)= \int_{B(0,|x|)}f(y)dy\), \(x\in\mathbb{R}^n\), where \(B(0,|x|)\) is the ball in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) centered at zero with radius \(|x|\). If \(U\) and \(W\) are weight functions, then it is shown that \(H:L^p_U\to L^q_W\), \(1< p,q<\infty\), is bounded if and only if \(U\), \(W\) satisfy conditions which are the natural extensions to the one-dimensional conditions. For specific choices of the weights one obtains the \(n\)-dimensional Hardy inequalities whose constants are sharp and independent of \(n\). In addition a gradient inequality and an exponential integral inequality are characterized in terms of the weight functions. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0864.00057].
