Hypergroups and signed hypergroups
This paper is a very nice analysis of various axioms for hypergroups, introduced by Charles Dunkl, Robert Jewett and René Spector with the purpose of doing the standard harmonic analysis. The first section of the paper deals with the most important open problem of this theory, namely to establish if every hypergroup \(K\) has a Haar measure. Also comments concerning the character of a hypergroup are given. Section 2 presents results on Markov chains and deformations of hypergroups. Section 3 concerns the problem of an appropriate choice of axioms for signed hypergroups. The paper can be very useful for anyone interested in getting a general idea on hypergroups. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0879.00047].
