Implicit objects in computer graphics
Traditionally, the description of objects to be used in computer graphics and related fileds is given by their parametric representation. Nevertheless, in some cases can be more useful an implicit description; this is the aim of this book: to study the role of implicitly defined objects in computer graphics. The tentative audience of the book is researchers in computer graphic and geometric modeling, and the material is presented from a very rigorous mathematical point of view. It is divided into five parts. In the first and second parts, the mathematical concepts needed for the rest of the book are presented. In the third part, computational methods, both numerical and symbolic techniques, for constructing and analyzing implicit objects. This task is continued in the fourth part where the formulations for primitive implicit objects is provided. Finally, some applications of implicit objects are given in the last part.
