Integrable sigma models with complex and generalized complex structures

Two-dimensional sigma models and their deformations have been well studied, for example, the integrable deformation of the principal chiral model on \(\mathrm{SU} (2)\) was first presented for a general Lie group in [\textit{N. Sochen}, Phys. Lett. B 391, Issues 3--4, 374--380 (1997)]. Recently \textit{N. Mohammedi} [Phys. Rev. D 104, No. 12, Article ID 126028, 12 p. (2021; \url{doi:10.1103/PhysRevD.104.126028})] proposed a deformation of WZW models using two invertible linear operators and this model consists of the Yang-Baxter deformation as a special case. The general method he presented is used in the paper under review to construct an integrable sigma model on a general manifold with a complex structure. Conditions for integrability are established and are automatically satisfied through the use of the Nijenhuis tensor's zeros. The method can be employed to develop an integrable sigma model on a manifold, with a particular focus on Lie groups. To summarize, the paper presents an integrable sigma model on a manifold with a complex structure and the method already developed is used to investigate the integrability of the model. Two examples are provided. Next an integrable sigma model is constructed on a general Lie group with a complex structure. In this case, the integrability conditions are automatically satisfied as a consequence of the Nijenhuis condition. Examples on the Heisenberg and other Lie groups are provided. As a generalization an integrable sigma model on a manifold and Lie group with generalized structure is presented. The generalized complex structure formulas on a metric Lie algebra in terms of operator formalism is presented as well at the end.
