Some classical problems (as, for instance, a version of the interpolation theorem of Carathéodory-Féjer) are studied in the context of connected compact abelian groups whose dual has a complete linear order compatible with the group structure. Extensions of the Nehari theorem, the Sarason commutation theorem, the Helson-Szegő theorem and integral representations for positive definite generalized Toeplitz kernels are given.
