To study the behavior of a holomorphic self-map \(\varphi\) of the unit ball \(B^n\) of \(\mathbb C^n\) it is often useful to solve a Schröder-like equation of the form \(\sigma\circ\varphi = A\circ\varphi\), where \(A\) is a linear fractional transformation. When \(\varphi\) has a fixed point in~\(B^n\), this problem has been studied by \textit{C. Cowen} and \textit{B. MacCluer} [Taiwanese J. Math. 7, No.~1, 129--154 (2003; Zbl 1033.32011)]; however, the most important case is when \(\varphi\) has no fixed points in \(B^n\). This interesting paper is a thorough study of the latter case in dimension~2. The author is able to solve the given equation for almost all \(\varphi\) under a natural differentiability assumption at the Wolff point; his results widely generalize previous work by \textit{F. Bracci} and \textit{G. Gentili} [Mich. Math. J. 53, No.~2, 337--356 (2005; Zbl 1130.32007)]. A final remark: The first proof of the Denjoy-Wolff theorem for \(B^n\) is not due to MacCluer as stated in this paper (and many others), but to \textit{M. Hervé} [see J. Math. Pures Appl., IX. Sér. 42, 117--147 (1963; Zbl 0116.28903)].
