The authors construct complex valued harmonic morphisms from the various classical noncompact Lie groups with natural Riemann metric, at first from \(\text{SL}(n,\mathbb R)\), \(\text{SU}^*(2n)\), and \(\text{Sp}(n,\mathbb R)\). In addition, using a notion of ``bi-eigenfamily'' and a duality principle complex valued harmonic functions on \(\text{SO}^*(2n)\), \(\text{SO}(p,q)\), \(\text{SU}(p,q)\) and \(\text{Sp}(p,q)\). Finally via a ``duality principle'' also on the compact groups \(\text{SO}(n)\), \(\text{SU}(n)\), \(\text{Sp}(n)\) with their semi-Riemannian metric.
