Diffeomorphisms with intermingled attracting basins (Q1002834)

The author constructs a nonempty set in the space of diffeomorphisms \(f\) on a manifold with boundary into itself with the following property: For each mapping \(f\) in this set, the (Milnor) attractor of \(f\) consists of two components, and the attracting basins of these components are dense in the phase space and have positive measure. Moreover, it is shown that the class of examples constructed in this paper has codimension infinity in the space of all diffeomorphisms of the same manifold.
