The author studies, by means of classical fixed point index theory, the existence of positive solutions for second order boundary value problems of the type \[ \begin{gathered} u''(t)+h(t) f(t,u(t),u'(t))=0 \text{ for almost every } t \in (0,1),\\ u(0)=0,\;u'(1)=\sum_{i=1}^{m-2}\alpha_{i}u'(\xi_{i}),\\ \end{gathered} \] where \(\alpha_i\) are positive coefficients, \(0<\xi_{1}<\ldots<\xi_{m-2}<1\), \(h\in L^1[0,1]\) and \(f: [0,1]\times [0,\infty)\times [0,\infty)\to [0,\infty)\) satisfies Carathéodory conditions. The proofs use similar arguments to some of the ones in [\textit{J. R. L. Webb} and \textit{K. Q. Lan}, Topol. Methods Nonlinear Anal. 27, 91-115 (2006; Zbl 1146.34020)].
