The author presents a general result on the conservation of translational symmetry for two-dimensional Gibbsian particle systems. The author defines a class of potentials for which translational symmetry is conserved and gives sufficient conditions for potentials to belong to this class. In particular the conservation of translational symmetry for the continuum Widom-Rowlinson model and a class of continuum Potts models have been shown.
